The Disciples
Grades 4 & 5
1st & 3rd Sunday; Dismissed from the service after worship **There will be no Disciples on December 19. The Disciples will be in for the Christmas Service.
4th & 5th graders are pre-teens: no longer young children and not yet Middle Schoolers. The Disciples class meets 4th & 5th graders where they are and is a bridge from childhood into adolescence.
In the class we spend time talking about school, their activities, and life in general. We then watch a short video that illustrates a "sticky situation" in game-show style format. The situations are things they might be facing as preteens and provides options to choose from in how to respond in the sticky situation. We turn to God's Word to understand how to approach these situations in order to learn to respond in ways that reflect God's plan for our lives. Sometimes we include going to the gym to play games and just for fun - they have lots of energy!
We have a few activities throughout the year that occur outside of our Sunday morning class. We also have an annual Christmas Party!
Students are dismissed after worship. Parents are welcome to accompany their child to the class. Signs mark the direction to go to find their class. When the service is over, students are free to leave the class.
